Paul Gauguin Cruises – Bellevue, WA

2009 to Present

IT Director

 

Originally I was brought in to oversee the migration of the Paul Gauguin vessel over to the new owner’s infrastructure in a very short timeline.  Within a week I was put in charge of all technical areas of Paul Gauguin Cruises corporate office and vessel in addition to Pacific Beachcombers the parent company.  Technical areas include the architecture, engineering and operations of the server and application infrastructure, data center, telephony, web sites, networking, etc.

 

Ü  Managed a small IT team distributed between Tahiti, Bellevue and Boston

Ü  Complete design and build out of the corporate infrastructure for Bellevue, WA

Ü  Migration of the ships infrastructure from the selling company to Paul Gauguin Cruises

Ü  Upgrade of vessel server, infrastructure applications, ship management systems and point of sale hardware and software

Ü  Purchased a new TVRO satellite and television package that provides 8 channels of broadcast news and entertainment

Ü  Implemented a new Cisco call center solution to improve call quality, voice and screen recording, agent scoring and skills based routing.

Ü  Renegotiated and consolidated contracts and services in the purchasing, web development, telco hosting, and application services areas

 

 

Expedia Inc. - Bellevue, WA

2002 to 2009

Expedia, Inc companies include Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, TripAdvisor.com, Egencia.com, eLong.com, Venere.com, ClassicVacations.com and others

 

Positions held:  IT Director, Senior Manager, Manager, and Data Center Lead

 

As the Director of IT I was responsible for four key global functions for the company; Windows, UNIX and AS400 servers, Storage Area Networking (SAN) and Server Asset Management.

 

Ü  Manage the geographically dispersed teams of systems engineers and administrators that provided operational and engineering support for the Expedia, Inc. companies

o    Responsible for supporting 7000 Windows and UNIX servers deployed across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific with a staff of 25 administrators and engineers

o    Managed over 2 PB of heterogeneous SAN storage across the enterprise

o    Supported over 30 infrastructure applications and technologies including messaging, remote access, directory services and backups

o    Manage all server assets including the request process, purchasing, provisioning, and inventory management

o    Responsible for all aspects of the 30 data centers hosting Expedia, Inc. corporate and eCommerce servers and networks

o    Primary business owner and manager of the global data center consolidation and disaster recovery projects to reduce the data center footprint from 30 to 4 and provide active failover between centers in the event of a disaster

o    Managed a team of Network Engineers supporting the 12 North American corporate network environments

Ü  Drive technology integration and standardization of acquired companies

Ü  Key participant on a project to reduce yearly operating costs by 45MM in 2010

2001 to 2002

 

Director of Information Technology

Engaged to realign the Information Technology team with the business and provide technical leadership and expertise for an application service provider specializing in automotive management systems. Areas of responsibilities include staff management, e-commerce design, implementation, sustainment, networking and telephony.

Ü  Executed organizational improvements to aid in obtaining investment capital and successfully managed the IT budget throughout the bridge funding period by utilizing creative cost-effective ideas to accomplish business needs

Ü  Responsible for aligning the IT and business goals to ensure efficient delivery and management of services

Ü  Managed 3 teams responsible for supporting the corporate and e-commerce environments, Intranet development, and release management for Soma.com and CVS.com including the distribution warehouse and customer call center
